Listen Cinderella, you don’t need a fairy godmother to go completely glam. The Frock Shop is a designer dress rental service that allows you to look great for every event, without breaking the bank. It’s as simple as rent, wear, and return. And the best part? Your ensemble will last long past midnight. Just choose your dress, look fabulous at your event and return it after you are done. If you order online, Poof! Your package arrives in the mail, and you are ready for that ball (or wedding, or prom or company soirée…). Better yet, head directly into the Chicago showroom and try on your frock before making a decision. Choose from designers such as BCBG, Tadashi, Parker, Sherri Hill and more. Sizes range from 00 – 22 and Frock Shop also rents accessories so stylists help you create the perfect ensemble, head to toe. After the big event, just return your dress by mail or in person, no dry cleaning required. Now if only we could rent the perfect date…hey, a girl can dream.
How do you like that? Sounds great right? Well…..my own Frock Shop experience was as simple as the excerpt above. I was asked, with only a week’s notice, to interview celebrities on the red carpet for a black-tie gala. I was soooo excited, but then I freaked out because I had nothing to wear. 🙂 I quickly remembered The Frock Shop and scheduled an appointment with the owner, Jennifer Burrell. She had me in and out with the perfect dress that fit the 1920’s Vintage theme of the night. I received so many compliments on my dress at the event and the confidence it gave me was amazing! 🙂 I haven’t used the online service yet, but when I finally get an event with a little more advance notice I plan too. LOL
So now you might be wondering “How did The Frock Shop come about?”
The owner, Jennifer Burrell, was cleaning out her closet one day and saw ALL of these beautiful dresses she would never wear again. Let’s be honest in this digital age you don’t want to be caught in the same dress online twice. Plus if you’re attending galas or special events the dresses are so detailed that everyone will remember them. It may be 3 or 4 years before you dare wear them again.
Jennifer then got the idea to create a service where woman could borrow dresses and eliminate having to pay full price for a dress they would never wear again. She had always been into fashion and noticed there weren’t too many corporate fashion offices in Chicago. Jennifer took it as an opportunity to start The Frock Shop. As a native Chicagoan, she was glad that she could open up a location in her hometown. Jennifer was excited for women to have the opportunity to come in and try dresses on versus ordering online and hoping they fit. (You can still order online though). www.frockshopchicago.com
