Pepsi Dig In, the brand’s platform designed to drive access, business growth, and awareness to Black-owned restaurants, is back bigger than ever with Pepsi Dig In Day on Saturday, August 24. (1:00pm – 8:00pm) Pepsi Dig In Day is an annual day to encourage foodies to visit and dine at Black-owned restaurants across the country.
Hip hop duo Clipse will headline a lineup of talented musicians and DJs including Jack Freeman, Adé, Karrahbooo, Reese Laflare, Terry Hunter, Sean Mac, Vic Lloyd and host King Flexxa. Plus, Chicago designer Don C will be in attendance to unveil and celebrate his limited-edition Pepsi x Just Don collection. Don C is available for interviews on-site.
Visitors can enjoy FREE food samples from Black-owned restaurants (while supplies last) with food and drinks available to purchase and shop from local Black-owned businesses.
Restaurants include Uncle Remus, Lexington Betty Smokehouse, Can’t Believe It’s Not Meat, S2 City Grill, and CHKN Box.
Businesses include Justice of the Pies, Moore Poppin, Destiny’s Water Icee + Ice Cream, Vienna Beef Chicago Hot Dogs, Dat Donut, Carni-Go Freeze Dried Candy, and Silver Spoon Desserts with mixology from Brown & Balanced.

For foodies in the Chicago area who can’t attend the block party, Pepsi Dig In is covering buy one get one free meals (while supplies last, dishes vary by participating restaurant) on August 24 at Daisy’s Po-boy and Tavern, Docks, Koto Hibachi, Shaq’s Big Chicken and Taylor’s Tacos. Chicago is one of 15 cities where Pepsi Dig In is covering $100,000 in meals at Black-owned restaurants for diners to discover their new favorite eateries for Pepsi Dig In Day.
Free dishes include:
- Daisy’s Po-boy and Tavern’s catfish po-boy -Fried Catfish dressed with Creole Slaw and Remoulade
- Docks’ Fishwich – 2pc of fried whiting on a wheat bun topped with lettuce tomato tartar sauce
- Koto Hibachi’s Koto Combo – a mix of steak, chicken and shrimp hibachi with choice of rice or noodles
- Shaq’s Big Chicken’s The Ultimate chicken sandwich topped with mac & cheese, crispy fried onions and roasted garlic bbq aioli
- Taylor’s Tacos’ Sexy crispy SHRIMP tacos – two crisped tortillas served with rice flour battered shrimp, hot sauce, secret salsa, cilantro, cheese, limes, and Maya’s pickled red cabbage
