I LOVE my #tacotuesdays and now I have a new place to get my taco fix! Yesterday I checked out The Old Plank. It’s a new Tex-Mex Sports bar located at 2700 North Milwaukee Avenue in Logan Square. The name “The Old Plank” even has a little history. Once Milwaukee Avenue was just an old “plank road,” it was referred to as “Northwest Plank Road.”
Under the direction of Executive Chef Jesus Castillo and Chef de Cuisine Juan Ramirez the food menu offers authentic Tex-Mex flavors. On the drink menu, you can also expect agave and whiskey-focused cocktails from Beverage Director Phillip Smith. There’s also 16 taps of local brews, rotating frozen drinks, shots, and packaged beers. Make sure to follow their Instagram page @theoldplank to see their deal specials. I definitely took advantage of the $2 taco’s on taco Tuesday. They also have Margarita specials on Mondays.
For those looking to head to The Old Plank for game day viewing you’re in luck! They have a plethora of televisions with indoor seating for 145 people in a variety of booths, high and low top tables, and barstools. When weather permits there will be alfresco dining in the rear along the sidewalk Café.
The Old Plank is open Monday through Friday from 4:00pm to 2:00am with a late kitchen until 1:30am. Local DJs will be spinning on Friday and Saturday nights from 9:00pm till close. On weekends brunch is served from 10:00am to 4:00pm.
The Old Plank was opened by One of a Kind Hospitality Group. Make sure to check out their other 5 establishments right on Milwaukee Avenue: Café Con Leche, The Harding Tavern, Red Star Liquor, The Walk-In, Saba Italian Bar + Kitchen. I’m three for six! I’ve also been to The Walk-In and Saba Italian Bar + Kitchen. Loved them both and even hosted my birthday party one year at The Walk-In. There’s so many different spots popping up in the ever developing Logan Square area.
Happy eating!!
