The Illinois Craft Brewers Guild (ICBG), the statewide association that represents more than 160 craft breweries and supports the development and expansion of the craft beer industry in Illinois, today announced the return of North America’s largest and most prestigious barrel-aged beer festival and competition, the Festival of Wood & Barrel-Aged Beer (FoBAB).
FoBAB 2018 kicks off November 16-17 at UIC Forum (725 W Roosevelt Rd.) in Chicago. More than 200 craft breweries from across the United States will showcase over 400 of their rarest, most innovative wood and barrel-aged brews, each of which has been aged in a wooden barrel or in contact with wood. Nationally recognized for its unique and inventive barrel-aged beer, cider, and mead, FoBAB 2018 is expected to draw over 8,000 attendees to Chicago for the two-day event.
“We are thrilled to once again welcome the world’s most passionate barrel-aged brewers and beer fans to our one-of-a-kind festival,” said Danielle D’Alessandro, executive director for the Illinois Craft Brewers Guild. “FoBAB 2018 promises to put the creativity of our nation’s barrel-aged breweries front and center, delivering barrel-aged beer drinkers an unmatched tasting experience they just can’t get anywhere else.”
The National Barrel Aged Beer Competition
In connection with FoBAB, participating breweries also compete for top honors in The National Barrel Aged Beer Competition.
