2018 Chef Inductee Ceremony
This past weekend was every foodies dream come true! The Chicago Culinary Museum, Chefโs Hall of Fame, and For the Love of Chocolate non-profit presented the 2018 ultimate culinary experience.
Guests started off the eveningย at the Red Lacquer room inside the Palmer House Hilton for the Chefโs Hall of Fame Inductee ceremony. Three Chicago restaurant industry leaders were inducted into the Hall of Fame and honored by the Chicago Culinary museum for their accomplishments in the culinary industry.
The three Inductees were:
Chef John Hogan of River Roast
Chef Mindy Segal of Hot Chocolate
Restaurateur Fred Hoffman of Ala Carte Entertainment
Past inductee honoreesย like Chef Tony Mantuano and Chef Sebastien Canonne wereย also on hand for the ceremony.ย The Chef Hall of Fame ceremony serves as the annual fundraiser for the Chicago Culinary Museum, now under the umbrellaย of the American Culinary Federation Chefs and Culinary Professionals of Chicagoland http://ccpchicagoland.org/. The primary goal is to raise funds for scholarships for up-and-coming chefs.

One highlight I really enjoyed at the ceremony was Mindy Segal reminding us that you need to support your local restaurants. If you really like a restaurant and want to see it succeed, you must support by frequenting that restaurant.
After the Chefโs Hall of Fame ceremony we all headed across the hall for an enchanting and mystical evening at the For the Love of Chocolate Foundation 13th annual fundraiser. For the Love of Chocolate is a non profit organization that supports pastry & baking education through scholarships and events and also showcasing the hospitality industry.
The theme of the Gala was โWhimsy: A Dessert Dream Brought to Life.โ I absolutely loved it!!! It brought me back to my childhoodย fantasyย ofย being surrounded by chocolate and getting toย eat as much as I want. LOL. There were incredible edible attractions with 100 different presentation stations featuring gourmet savory food, chocolate, pastries, macarons, a chocolate garden, and an Ice Cream truck.ย There were alsoย 12 open bars, featuring premium wine, beer, liquor, and specialty cocktails.
On top of all the delicious food there were playful performances! Guests floated through 3 rooms of amazement to find an adult playland, a cloud dance floor, fantastical creatures, an illusion cafรฉ, and a silent dance club.
Such a well executed theme and I loved the dress code of the evening. Women were to come in flower gowns and flower crowns. The men were asked to come in white tuxedo’s.
