Not sure about you, but when I pass the Renaissance Hotel on Wacker it never crossed my mind that there was a party going on inside. The entrance of the hotel is off the street and my first thought was it’s your normal “tourist/business” hotel. That was until I attended an after party here for Lollapalooza where DJ Franco V was spinning. The music was hot! He played hip hop and top 40. Come to find out they have DJs every Saturday in their artist lounge studio. The surprises don’t stop there. Multiple events are hosted throughout the week referred to as their RLife Series.

The RLife series is a weekly event that not only caters to the guests patronizing the hotel, but the event is open to the public. I had the pleasure of attending the RLife Series featuring aspiring R&B artist Bianca Exson. The events are not just based towards R&B, but revolve around anything that is entertaining and brings sensory adventure for the guests. For example Thursday, August 13th they plan on having a break dancing group. The following week it will be a roller derby group skating around the lounge area. The Renaissance hotel on Wacker hosts many Chicago musicians. I love an establishment that includes the locals. There’s a certain excitement of not knowing which aspiring artist will be discovered and might be the next superstar. You can say you saw them riSE to the top 

So what can you expect? First off, EXCELLENT customer service. Some places I go to can be stuffy. After work I don’t want to worry about pretentious people. I want to patronize a place where I am welcome, the music is good, the establishment is beautiful, and there’s enough room to breathe. Renaissance on Wacker has my checklist covered. The setup is intimate, but yet inviting. Best of all their series is up and coming so chances are instead of waiting in a long line at…ahem…some hotels I will not mention, you’ll be able to grab a seat and relax. I almost don’t want to give up this hidden secret place, but sharing means caring. Hope to see you at the next RLife Series event. REWIND:
– You’ll like this… only tidbit I have to add is come as you are. I saw some people dressed in jeans, after work and cocktail attire. Love a place that’s accepting to all.

CONS:
– I think my mind is at ease now on the cons. Upon arrival there wasn’t a huge line outside like other hotel lounge bars. Just know that there are people inside and the series is not only trying to draw the tourist crowd, but the locals as well.
