Luxury Spa Suite
I am not one to let tourists have all the fun in Chicago. I constantly preach to my friends the need for self care and relaxation. My form of self care has always revolved around getaways and exploring. Now with my “adulting” responsibilities the “getaway” part is not always possible. That’s why I love staycations! Taking a day or two to stay at a beautiful hotel in one of the top tourist destinations always makes me feel rejuvenated.
Fresco Terrace
Chicago is the optimal place for a staycation. I’ve done several staycations and each one is different based on the vibe you’re going for. This time I chose the Royal Sonesta River North. I wanted to stay some place sophisticated yet tucked away in the heart of the city. River North is such a trendy area with sleek galleries, bars galore, and an awesome nightlife scene. My staycation was not just a self care retreat. I was also celebrating my birthday and the last year in my 30’s!
The Royal Sonesta River North is located in a prime location. You’re within minutes from shopping on Michigan Avenue, heading over to Navy Pier for a boat ride or to catch the fireworks (Wed and Saturday evenings), and let’s not forget destinations like Millennium Park for those really feeling touristy. Your staycation is ALL about YOU and what YOU want to do.
Indoor Pool
I loved when we arrived at the Royal Sonesta and the huge Instagramable floor sign as you enter the hotel. If you’re like me and LOVE taking memorable pics this hotel has a lot of picture worthy spots. Here’s a few to look out for:

- The CBR Chicago Restaurant entrance
- The pool
- The Outside Terrace

Not to mention all the memorable pics you can grab as soon as you exit the hotel doors. A beautiful city awaits! After our super easy check in we explored our luxury spa suite. I noted the jet spa tub and knew that would be my final destination of the evening. We enjoyed ourselves at the indoor pool and then headed outside to soak up some vitamin D on the terrace before dinner.
CBR Chicago Cocktail Bar
Speaking of dinner, I love hotels that have onsite restaurants. CBR Chicago does not disappoint. The stylish cocktail bar offers stunning views of the city. I had been to CBR on a prior occasion for dinner, but this time I indulged in their breakfast. The waffles were soooo tasty!

There’s always special deals and events going on. I love that the onsite restaurant @CBRchicago has a happy hour every Mon – Friday from 4pm to 6pm.
