My name is Tavi Johnson and I stalk Instagram daily for beautiful dessert pics. ๐ There I admitted it! LOLโฆIn all reality though thatโs how I stumbled upon TNS Pop Shop Cake Pops. The power of the hash tag leads us to discover small local businesses you may not have knownย of otherwise.
I started following TNS Pop Shop on Instagram every morning (no joke) I drool over the beautifully designed and enticing cake pop flavors. Check out their Instagram Page and youโll see why. The cake pops are sold at Cafรฉ Press Chi in the South Loop and online. I headed over to Cafรฉ Press Chi to give one a try and I was hooked! My first experience was with the peanut butter chocolate cake pop โฆ..Iโve been a believer /eater ever since. ๐
Lori Lorgeree (Owner/CEO) of TNS Pop Shop ALWAYS had a sweet tooth and has been baking for 30+ plus years. She started off in the corporate world working for one of the big four accounting firms and was in a nutshell miserable.ย Lori was working long hours, missing her 3 boys, and missing the feeling of self-fulfillment she got during her college years as a caretaker of a handicapped boy. Growing up poor she always had a strong desire to give back, but also needed to be a provider for her family.
In steps a leap of faith and God given talent she launched TNS Pop Shop in April of 2015. TNS stands for her 3 boys initials (Tucker, Nixon, and Scottie).ย Her claim to fame started at church where she would bring treats to the weekly finance committee meetings. One week she brought the cake pops and needless to say they were a hit. So much so that one person placed an order for 800 (you read that rightโฆ.800) cake pops that week! Lori wasnโt active on social media initially, but when something is meant to happen ALL the pieces fall into place. She setย herself up on the social media sites, created a web page, and the rest is history. She was able to quit the accounting firm job and now works two part time jobs (one being TNS POP Shop) in fields that she loves.

โ I Love Chicago and have lived here most of my life. I make the BEST Cake Pops you will ever taste in 20+ flavors. I also give back 10% of the proceeds and volunteer with multiple local charity organizations (To name a few CPS, City Church, Lurie Childrenโs Hospital, ย Salvation Army, Greater Chicago Food Depository, Pacific Gardens). As someone that has grown up poor I love to feed the homeless with my boys. Giving back means a lot to me.โ
Just by corresponding with Lori on Instagram I knew she was a genuine and caring person, but meeting her in person confirmed that. She has a desire to work with each person placing an order to make sure she gets the details right and the cake pops look perfect. I love her attitude. She believes in paying it forward and if we each pay it forward we can fix things and make our communities better. In the future Lori is hoping to experiment more with the cake pops. She already does gluten free and dairy free cake pops, but sheโs thinking of making protein ย and natural cake pops as well. She also may venture out (I hope so) into more brick & motor locations.
