There’s a lot of Fall activities coming up! One activity in particular that is on my radar is the 20th Year Anniversary of aliveOne bar/lounge in Lincoln Park next month. I plan on getting the celebration started sooner this month by heading over to check out their Thursday nights. Thursday nights they have live funk/jazz by local band Low Spark.
An extra incentive to go on Thursday nights this month is they are raffling off tickets to the private celebration party that will be held on November 5th. November 5th will be a private party with 4 of the 6 members (Brendan Bayliss, Ryan Stasik, Jake Cinninger and Joel Cummins) of Umphrey’s McGee. (known as Good Enough)

aliveOne Back Room
aliveOne, the Lincoln Park neighborhood bar that combines the very best of music and spirits, will celebrate its 20th anniversary this fall. With their name inspired by the 100 CD all-live music jukebox in the front room (Chicago’s only live jukebox), aliveOne opened in December 1996 at the corner of Schubert and Halsted.
Complementing the front bar, aliveOne’s back room has become Lincoln Park’s best-kept secret where guests can see Chicago’s best up and coming bands for free (never a cover), or take part in all-out weekend dance parties. aliveOne houses an extensive collection of commercially-released live concert bootlegs on CD and analog tape, which are displayed in cases on the walls throughout the bar along with photographs and music memorabilia spanning five decades.
To celebrate its status as a long-standing “music mecca”, aliveOne will throw a week-long bash with drink specials, a free show on Friday, November 4 featuring nationally touring band The Heard and an invite-only, contest winner concert on Saturday, November 5 featuring a performance by Brendan Bayliss, Ryan Stasik, Jake Cinninger and Joel Cummins of Umphrey’s McGee (known as Good Enough). 20th ANNIVERSARY TICKET GIVEAWAYS
Ticket Raffle: Thursday, October 6, 13, 20, 27, and November 3
Every Thursday from October 6 through November 3, patrons will have a chance to win passes to aliveOne’s private 20th Anniversary Party on Saturday, November 5 featuring a performance by Good Enough with Brendan Bayliss, Ryan Stasik, Jake Cinninger and Joel Cummins of Umphrey’s McGee. Two pairs of passes will be raffled off every Thursday leading up to the event during aliveOne’s Resident Band Night with local funk, fusion and groove band Low Spark The free live music is from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m, and guests will receive a free raffle ticket at the door. Winners will be announced between 11 p.m. and midnight in the back room. Patrons must be present to win. Thursday drink specials include $4 Lagunitas Drafts and $4 Absolut Cocktails.
ANNIVERSARY COCKTAIL SPECIAL

$5 cocktail special
In celebration of the milestone anniversary, aliveOne will offer a special “Anniversary Cocktail” available Monday, October 31 through Friday, November 4. The cocktail will be available for $5 and features Four Roses bourbon, ginger beer, lime and an Angostura float.

In addition to the $5 “Anniversary Cocktail”, other anniversary week festivities at aliveOne will include FREE live music on Thursday, November 3 with resident band Low Spark from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m., and $4 Lagunitas Drafts and $4 Absolut Cocktails on special. This will also be the last opportunity for patrons to win passes to the private 20th Anniversary Party with performances by members of Umphrey’s McGee.
On Friday, November 4, former Thursday resident and now nationally touring band The Heard will perform two sets in the back room beginning at 10 p.m. The first set will be a tribute to aliveOne featuring covers from their favorite funk artists and beyond. The second set will be all The Heard originals.

The aliveOne anniversary week will culminate with a private 20-year celebration on Saturday, November 5 featuring a concert by the band Good Enough, which includes four of the six members from the American jam band Umphrey’s Mcgee (Brendan Bayliss, Ryan Stasik, Jake Cinninger, Joel Cummins). Resident Thursday night band Low Spark will be opening for them.
While this is a private event, two sets of passes will be raffled off every Thursday night at aliveOne now through Thursday, November 3. Tickets will be raffled off during the set of resident band Low Spark and guests will receive a free raffle ticket at the door. Winners will be announced from 11 p.m. to midnight in the back room. Patrons must be present to win.
