Face & Body® continues to set the pace for spa conferences as it announces an earlier Midwest show in 2017. The perfect blend of advanced education, cutting-edge products and networking opportunities, Face & Body Midwest is an annual conference and expo held for spa, skin care and wellness professionals. The event will take place on Jan. 21-23, 2017 at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, IL. As numerous sectors of the spa, skin care and wellness industry continue to see growth, Face & Body continues to build a more elevated experience for its attendees in 2017 and beyond.
“January signifies a fresh start, and we feel that launching the Midwest show at this time of year is the best way to let the industry know that we are in the business of skin,” said Sandy Chapin, group show director. “It gives industry professionals an opportunity to plan out their whole year and execute the best practices to better position their businesses for advancement. We are continuously growing; we have the support and we can carry a show. This is the same show attendees come to every year—but better.”
This year’s keynote, titled “Purpose + Passion=Beauty,” will focus on the topic of first impressions, self-confidence and how both dynamics impact the beauty industry. The keynote will be presented by celebrity makeup artist and best-selling author Michelle Phillips.
Face & Body represents the diversity of today’s spa industry. This annual, innovative expo provides practical business solutions, presents the newest trends, and conveys insight from leading industry suppliers. Beyond just facials, the show seeks to explore how to strengthen this service-based industry, as it is built on trends and evolving consumer preference. In addition to its traditional education focus and exhibitor base, Face & Body Midwest’s areas of growth include learning pavilions, med-esthetics and massage, as well as other services increasingly being offered by day and resort spas.
For more than 20 years, the Face & Body event has brought industry professionals a top-notch, product-neutral Advanced Education Conference program, numerous networking opportunities and a leading expo. Celebrity Makeup Artist Michelle Phillips Named Keynote for Skin Inc.’s
Face & Body Midwest
“Purpose + Passion = Beauty” to Shed Light on Importance of First Impressions and Self-Confidence
Celebrity makeup artist and best-selling author Michelle Phillips will be the keynote speaker at Face & Body Midwest on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at 9 a.m. CT. The discussion, titled “Purpose + Passion=Beauty,” will center on the topic of first impressions, self-confidence and how both dynamics impact the beauty industry.
Science shows that we make a first impression within seven seconds of meeting someone. While the assumption is that this impression is made solely based on external factors, what each individual “projects” goes far deeper, according to Phillips.
“First impressions are critical for any line of business, but are especially impactful in the spa industry. We are not talking looks here, but rather a meaningful connection that establishes a relationship with clients and converts them into repeat business. It is important for all staff at a spa to make great first impressions, from the front desk to the estheticians and spa managers, to keep clients wanting to come back to your place of business. With over 25 years of making first impressions in the beauty industry, celebrity makeup artist Michelle Phillips is the perfect person to coach the spa industry on how to do this effectively, and we look forward to hearing her insights,” said Katie Anderson, Skin Inc. managing editor and Face & Body conference program manager.
Phillips is a leading authority in the beauty industry and one of the most influential makeup artists in the entertainment industry. She has represented major beauty and lifestyle brands, such as Johnson & Johnson, Proctor & Gamble, Sarah McNamara Beauty, Stein Mart, Kohl’s and Sephora, and is a national TV host and guest beauty expert. Phillips is the author of The Beauty Blueprint: 8 Steps to Building the Life and Look of Your Dreams.”
